Time was, when every community had its own band. They played for formal dances at the Manor - and much rougher ones down the pub. They played at weddings, harvest homes, Christmas parties and village festivals.

They played tunes learned from their families, from travelling entertainers and pedlars’ songbooks. Always in the same traditional way.

Maiden Oak grew from the desire to continue this custom, and to keep traditional music alive.
